Torch on waterproofing involves applying a flexible and almost spongy membrane to a surface using a torch. This method is particularly effective for low-angled roofs or concrete rooftops that tend to accumulate water. However, its applications extend far and wide, including the inside of planter boxes.

The membrane itself is composed primarily of bitumen, a hydrocarbon derived from crude oil. This bitumen is then enhanced with asphalt, which comes in two common forms: Styrene Butadiene Styrene (SBS), a rubber modified asphalt, or Atactic Polypropylene Plastic (APP), a plastic modified asphalt.

To provide structural integrity, a layer of polyester is added to the mix. Both variations of the membrane are heat activated, giving torch on membrane waterproofing a significant advantage over traditional methods.

By heating the edges of the membranes, they can be seamlessly joined together, forming a secure and watertight seal. This unique feature allows the membrane to be custom-fitted to any shape, material, or size, surpassing the capabilities of other waterproofing techniques. The use of heat ensures a stronger bond, providing exceptional durability and reliability.
